Chinese Democracy

Today I was greeted with the realization, not only that Guns N Roses’ Chinese Democracy was actually coming out (After 14 years of hype, and several leaks of songs at various stages of completion) but that the whole thing can be heard right now online.

I can’t imagine what it’s like to attempt to live up to that kind of expectation, but having now heard about half of the new album, streamed here via myspace… I’m impressed enough to actually buy it. That might not mean much to some people, but in the last year I have purchased only two physical albums.

Incidentally, this also means somebody owes me a Dr. Pepper… and I intend to collect.

I also intend to collect! I have waited for this album for a long time but now I am not sure exactly how I feel about it. I am not sure it I want to purchase it or wait till I see the reviews. The one song they have played on the radio (the name escapes me at the moment) was not to bad. I actually heard a little bit of old style GUN’s in that song. I did notice though that without the infamous stylings of Slashs guitar the song did sound a little bit on the mundane side. You will have to tell me how the album is… I think that could possibly be the second album I purchase this year…… just maybe.

a bit late, but i wanted to add my 2 cents. i also have been counting the days until this album came out. is it the gnr of old? no. is it better? probably not. but having said that, it is still better than most things coming out these days. i bought the cd and vinyl, but i am an insane collector of all things gnr. here is hoping that it takes less than 14 years to release the next album.

Ended up not buying it, yet. I was hoping it would grow on me as time goes on, as of yet it has not.

Perhaps I’ll give it a listen again later today…
