New Architecture Blog, Competitions

So, I came across another local Architect’s blog, aptly named Coffee with an Architect. The post I came across first, was actually one about competitions calling them “A glorious waste of time.

For this reason, and the not so separate desire for an intellectual escape from the memorization and whatnot involved in completing the ARE, I’ve decided to take up a competition (or two.)

The first is called TenSquare, a sweet little competition for a tiny house. If you know me, you know I have an affinity for small houses, and my architecture library is full of books on small structures. So this should be a great mental exercise, and unlike most competitions, I’ve already got a very clear concept in mind, and will have more to share very soon. (Hint: it will be called ‘hinge’)

The second is a the Chicken Coop Design Competition, to benefit The Poultry Project. (A non profit assisting families in Uganda in the poultry business for both sustenance and profit.)

I also have a new post hinting at some of what I’m planning to do over at TheAcornStudio. Both competitions will be under TAS banner, but there’s more to come including some plans I have in the works in advocating for and helping enable co-op and community housing in North Carolina. Very exciting stuff.

And I’ll leave you with another look at the Riverbirch Residence. New photos coming very soon:
