Design Process

The design and construction process doesn’t have to be hard, and my goal is to make it easier for you.

So you have an idea, and need to know where to go from here.

This is the perfect time for us to get together. We’ll talk about the overall design/construction process, and how to get from where you are now, to where you want to be. We’ll start exploring your goals, needs, and constraints. At the end of this initial  phase, you’ll have a realistic idea of what your project will look like, how much it will cost, how to proceed. This is the most important phase for ensuring that your idea is made a reality, without blowing the budget.

Once you’ve decided to pursue your project into construction, we’ll meet with the contractor to establish hard budgets, construction timelines, phasing, and any changes that will need to be made to in order to make it real. Based on those final changes, the contractor will proceed with construction. I remain at your disposal throughout this process, to ensure that the end product is exactly what you want. Finally, once you’re in your new space, we’ll get back together, and talk about the process again. Coming full circle and looking at what initial goals we met well, what problems we encountered along the way, and what surprises came up along the way. This evaluation stage is critically important for me, your architect, to do an excellent job in meeting every client’s needs, and making sure that you end your project with the same enthusiasm as when we first spoke.
